Carillion IT Services is now Capita IT Services

Integration of Carillion IT Services enhances existing capabilities.

Carillion IT Services (CITS) will now be trading as Capita IT Services. This follows the acquisition of the outsourcing, managed services and network infrastructure solutions provider by Capita, announced on 9th June 2009.

The integration of CITS into Capita IT Services will enhance and complement existing capabilities and bring relationships with key customers. Capita IT Services already offers organisations the full ICT lifecycle, ranging from business analysis through to a fully managed service. Capita IT Services intends to leverage the capabilities and market presence of CITS to deliver an enhanced capability to existing customers and target new markets including further education and Building Schools for the Future.  As a result of the acquisition, Capita IT Services now has the capability to deliver fully managed cabling services alongside managed network, application and desktop services.

The acquisition of CITS was part of Capita’s plans to extend its operations and capability in Scotland where CITS has a strong presence and customer base. Capita already has over 3,000 staff in Scotland across eleven businesses and the acquisition of CITS has added more than 190 employees to Capita’s Scottish operations.  Capita is the eighth largest private sector employer in Scotland, with the employees from CITS and in addition to plans to continue to create jobs across the Group, Capita’s Scottish footprint is growing.

In the rest of the UK, Capita has an established public sector presence and enables customers to drive efficiencies through the adoption of best practice and the transformation of IT service delivery. The Scottish public sector has the same requirement to drive the efficiency agenda and the acquisition of CITS represents an excellent foundation to further develop Capita’s presence in the Scottish IT market.

Andrew Carr, Director of Managed Services Sales comments: “This is an exciting time for Capita IT Services and the Capita Group. The acquisitions of ComputerLand and ABSNet have strengthened Capita IT Services’ position and reputation in the market and CITS will re-enforce this position for continued growth. We are keen to focus more energy on looking into the ways we can harness the skills, knowledge and capabilities of the Scottish workforce."

He continued: “CITS has a proven track record in delivering on business objectives and has built strong relationships with clients founded on collaboration and consistent delivery. Continuing and enhancing this level of professional service delivery will mean being able to provide a more comprehensive offering."
