Benefit from real-time access to housing services

Local authorities to benefit from real-time access to housing services.

Capita Software Services has today announced a new web-based application, which will provide council officers, housing associations and citizens with personalised, instant access to housing and support services. Addressing the governments ‘Supporting People’ initiative to provide a better quality of life for vulnerable people, this is the first solution with a ‘self-service’ capability currently available within the social housing sector.

The new web-based application, known as ‘Capita Support’ will offer the user access to an end-to-end housing service, from support with the assessment procedure to identification of appropriate services to meet citizens’ needs.

Stewart Davison, product launch manager of Capita Software Services, commented: “Every single day local authorities face the challenge of supporting and protecting vulnerable people. This web-based application is a platform to support current business processes far more effectively and efficiently. For example, it will cut the time lag between a housing association registering a supported housing vacancy and that space being filled by an individual. Previously, this could take a number of days but now the status of accommodation and services can be reported in seconds.

Local authorities will have access to a database of organisations that support housing services and be able to track customer details immediately. This will lead to improved visibility as to how citizens are being supported by a local authority or a housing association.
